Ecological Rural Guest House for sale in Granada Spain

La Finca del Castillo Arabe – Lecrin Valley (Granada) – Spain

A Luxury Rural Ecological Guest House / Boutique Hotel in the countryside

The price of this property has been reduced by 100.000 Euros from 1.750.000 € to 1.650.000 € (4th March 2013)

Built by its original owners whose vision was to create an oasis of calm and tranquillity that was fully sustainable and self sufficient, surrounded by magnificent countryside of orange and lemon orchards, olive trees, mountains and valleys, and to personally cater for guests wishing to stay and enjoy the delights of this holiday haven.

Perceived from eleven years of living in Spain, the owners embarked upon the project, designed and overseen by them, which was finally completed and opened to the public in 2011. The trials and tribulations of such a project were made apparent in the very early stages by them having to sack their first architect, as he failed to comply with their designs, and also their first lawyer, as he was inclined to side with the local village mayor as how best obtain the various and numerous permissions…

The owners soldiered on and engaged a new team, completed the property and despite all the Spanish bureaucracy, gained all the necessary permits through the proper channels for it to open as a top class rural, ecological guest house and catering centre, obtaining the highest possible rural category from the regional government, the Junta de Andalucia.

The property commands magnificent views across the Lecrin valley, situated 30 minutes drive south of the famous city of Granada in southern Spain, and benefits from the protection and backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, snow capped in winter, yet is only 2.5 kms. from the main motorway running from Granada down to the beaches and the Costa Tropical, just 20 minutes south.

Part of the adventure of staying here is the approach to the house when leaving the motorway as you wander and meander through narrow country lanes, orchards and small villages to suddenly discover, as you mount the last small hilltop, the panoramic and sensational location of La Finca del Castillo Arabe.

GUEST’S COMMENTS:

Since opening last year many guests have had the pleasure of staying at the Finca del Castillo Arabe and here is a selection of comments reproduced from posts on travel and booking sites on the Internet:

“It is an experience. You HAVE to do it. What a nice spot. If you want to relax or if you want to go to the beach or if you want to get to the mountain or if you want to get to La Alhambra, it’s the spot. Seriously after we have been to La Finca del Castillo Arabe of Chris and Scarlett, we went to Granada because we wanted to get downtown of Granada and get to La Alhambra. BAD CHOICE. Get to La Finca and get to Granada by car for the day and get back to La Finca. It is half an hour to get there maybe 45 minutes but when you get back to La Finca, it is so peaceful and relaxing. You are in the Middle of nowhere with an amazing view…” Guillaume and Marilyne. September 2012

“We absolutely fell in love with La Finca! Chris and Scarlett are really nice hosts, always ready to help us plan our activities, giving us good directions and advices. The place is amazing, superb view of the mountains, great house, comfortable suites, lovely pets and good meals. It is definitely worth the drive to get there. Once you find it, you are fine for the rest of your stay. We hope to go back one day!” Mylene

“Fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay with Chris and Scarlett. The suites were amazing. Lots of room. Very comfortable. Great place just to lounge and have a down day. Pool was great. We cooked some of our food in the self catering kitchen which is probably the best set up of any kitchen I have seen in my travels. We also enjoyed some lovely meals prepared by our hosts. Delicious. And English TV! The road is a bit tricky, an adventure but the drive is worth it. If you like animals they have great pets. Highly recommended.” Carol.

La Finca del Castillo Arabe is for sale freehold as an up and running, fully licensed business. See full details and property description with photographs…

The new season opens at Sierra Nevada

The season at the Sierra Nevada started at the weekend with 26 kms of pistes open to skiers, including the most difficult. Current snow depth goes from 20cms to a metre on the highest routes.

The resort hopes to attract more than a million visitors this winter, and has become one of the first in Spain to start the season. Cetursa is the company which runs the resort and director, María José López, said they expected to have 10 red, 8 blue and 11 green pistes open. She said it was the first time that veteran skiers could enjoy the pistes in the area of Laguna at the start of the season, and that Valeta and Borreguiles were also both prepared after ‘a great effort’ by the workers at the resort.

Some 300 workers have prepared the opening of the season, and snow which has fallen in recent days has supplemented the artificial snow which has been prepared since November 4.

The amount of pistes open is expected to be extended to 31 kms shortly. There are now 13 cable cars and ski lifts in operation.

The resort wants to attract more younger people, and this year opens new attractions including a ‘half-pipe’ in the Sulayr Park specially designed for snow boards. At 165 metres long it is the largest in Spain, and reaches a height of six metres which allow users to make three jumps on each side.

Support for families has also been improved with free access to the under 5’s and discounts for children in packages which include accommodation.
